Microsoft is advancing its commitment to passwordless technology by enabling the syncing of passkeys across devices. This rollout, which began last week, is initially available on the Edge browser for Windows 10 and higher, addressing a significant barrier to passkey adoption. The FIDO Alliance, which promotes non-phishable login credentials, has seen passkeys in development for five years; however, previous limitations in technology have slowed their widespread use. Microsoft aims to streamline this process, allowing users to create a single passkey that can be used across various devices and applications, enhancing user convenience and security. The company plans to expand this feature to its Edge browser on iOS, Android, and MacOS by the end of the year.
1Password has become the first password manager to integrate a new native passkeys plugin API, allowing it to manage passkeys directly within Windows 11. This feature streamlines credential management by enabling users to create and sync passkeys seamlessly, thus enhancing security and simplifying the login process. The integration requires users to install the latest version of 1Password and configure it as their credential manager in Windows settings.
EasyDMARC has released Touchpoint, a lead generation and sales enablement tool specifically designed for Managed Service Providers (MSPs). The tool features AI-driven insights and automated outreach capabilities to help MSPs identify and engage new business opportunities. Touchpoint also includes tools for showcasing email security solutions, particularly DMARC protection. The platform offers a scalable solution with a flexible pay-as-you-go pricing model. Touchpoint is built on EasyDMARC’s existing email authentication platform, which provides domain management capabilities, including organizational control and access management, aimed at addressing email security and deliverability challenges for MSPs.
N-able has introduced a Cyber Warranty Program designed for managed services providers (MSPs) to offer financial protection of up to $100,000 per protected entity under the Adlumin Managed Detection and Response (MDR) Advanced package. This program enables swift reimbursement for costs associated with cyber incidents, such as forensic investigations and legal fees, addressing gaps left by traditional cyber insurance. The Cyber Warranty Program aims to enhance business resilience and support faster recovery in the event of a breach, marking N-able as a provider of direct financial protection in the cybersecurity space.
Why do we care?
Microsoft’s finally tackling one of the big blockers to passkeys — syncing them across devices. It’s starting in Edge for Windows now, but once iOS, Android, and macOS are supported later this year, this becomes a real alternative to passwords. That’s a cue for MSPs to start planning their passwordless pilots, especially in Microsoft 365 shops.
1Password’s jumping in too, building native support in Windows 11 so it can act as the credential manager. That’s great progress — but note, Windows 10 users are left behind for now.
Meanwhile, EasyDMARC’s getting creative — they’ve added an AI-driven sales and lead gen platform for MSPs called Touchpoint. It’s an interesting pivot — vendors helping partners sell, not just secure. I’m skeptical of these, yet open-minded. Just keep an eye on compliance and spam rules before you unleash the bots.
And N-able’s new Cyber Warranty covers up to $100,000 in breach-related costs — a smart way to offer some financial protection alongside MDR. It’s not full insurance, but it’s a better than no safety net for SMBs. Make sure to read the fine print here. Disclosure, I’m a N-able Shareholder.
The throughline? Security vendors wants to be simpler, smarter, and more business-aligned. Let’s see if they can pull it off.
