Business of Tech | Boosting Tech Efficiency: Asana’s AI Workflows

Asana has introduced “AI teammates” who can advise and assign work based on historical relationships and skill sets. The AI model can also gather missing information and proactively reach out to collect data. Customers are testing Asana’s AI for tasks like creating tailored marketing content and standardizing workflows. The company has also added a chat interface for users to ask questions about their projects.

Raspberry Pi is partnering with chipmaker Hailo to sell an AI Kit for its Raspberry Pi 5 microcomputer. The kit includes Hailo’s Hailo-8L M.2 accelerator, allowing the tiny computer to run AI-based applications like chatbots. The accelerator offers 13 tera operations per second (TOPS) and has a power consumption below 2W. This move reflects the trend of bringing AI to portable devices with smaller models and processors that require less power.

Cisco Systems Inc. has announced a $1 billion global investment fund for AI startups and new AI-powered products and services. The company unveiled AI-infused networking products, enhanced security offerings, and AI tools for collaboration. Cisco also revealed strategic investments in prominent AI startups and introduced training programs to support partners and customers in optimizing their infrastructure for AI workloads. The aim is to fuel the development of AI systems and technologies and create an AI-ready workforce.

Why do we care?

Even the Raspberry Pi gets a dose of AI.     More intelligence into products is a good thing.

But are AI teammates?    I’m inclined to believe this is badly named Robotic Process Automation value, so let’s distinguish between poorly chosen marketing and actual product value.       Influsion of data intelligence in productivity is an area of interest.

Scrutinize the actual functionality of AI features beyond their marketing descriptions. Focus on how they can practically benefit your workflows and operations.

Implement AI solutions thoughtfully, ensuring they complement human efforts and do not overpromise on capabilities. Monitor and adapt these tools to fit your specific needs and goals.  And remember, it’s that advice that customers are paying you for.
